Whether we like it or not, Trump is significantly changing the nature of international law. Historically, law has largely been based on precedents. And if certain things, even formally unauthorized, become the norm, then they should be available to everyone who can afford them.

In Trump’s case, it’s not just about him and Israel launching military strikes without even trying to secure the support of the UN Security Council. It’s about the fact that the vast majority of countries are calmly watching this and continuing to build relations with the United States based on their national interests. As if nothing extraordinary had happened.
